What is Express Entry?

Many people have dreams of becoming Canadian permanent residents. One of the most promising programs to make these dreams come true is Express Entry.

The Express Entry online points-based system is used by the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC).

It chooses the best candidates while taking into account the country’s near-term economic and labor market demands.

Express Entry offers qualified employees in Canada or abroad a way to PR

Express Entry’s quick processing times—of six months or less—will benefit potential skilled foreign workers

Under various federal economic immigration programs, Express Entry handles applications for PR:

FSWP: Federal Skilled Worker Program

FSTP: The Federal Skilled Trades Program

CEC: The Canadian Experience Class

To fill labor market shortages locally, provinces and territories can also recruit individuals through Express Entry. This process is done by their Provincial Nominee Programs.

FSW

The Federal Skilled worker Program is for qualified professionals who desire to immigrate to Canada permanently.

CEC

For international graduates and temporary foreign employees, the Canadian Experience Class Program offers PR.

FST

The Federal Skilled Trades Program is for skilled people who desire to immigrate to Canada permanently.

PNP

Provincial Nomination Programs are, as the name implies, immigration schemes run by the Canadian provinces.

Express Entry Involves Two Steps

You enter your information into the pool of applicants in the first step. The CRS assigns points based primarily on your age, education level, language skills (English and French), and work experience.

Your profile will still be available in the pool for a year following the submission date. You may proceed to the next round if you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) within this time frame. You can re-enter the pool with a new profile if you do not get an ITA.

After receiving the ITA, you must defend the grounds you asserted in the first stage of the procedure and apply for PR. Remember that adding a profile to the Express Entry pool DOES NOT constitute a PR application.

Who is qualified for Express Entry?

Anyone who meets the requirements for age, education level, work experience, linguistic ability, and language competency is qualified. There is no charge to create a profile.

A competitive CRS score above the Express Entry draw cut-off is typically required to get an ITA from ICCRC under the Express Entry program. Every two weeks the Canadian government holds a draw.

Is a Job Offer required for Express Entry?

To be more specific, the answer is no. However, the Express Entry system can award you an additional 50/200 CRS points if you have a legal Canadian employment offer. This significantly raises your overall CRS score.

If you have a fair job offer, Columbus Immigration will guide you in completing the application and improving your CRS scores.
