Labour Market Impact Assessment

The Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) procedure assesses the impact of recruiting foreign workers on the Canadian labor market and workforce.

What is a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)?

When seeking to engage a foreign worker, a Canadian company must demonstrate that no existing Canadian (citizen or PR) qualifies for the given job position and that a foreign worker can only fill it. Every Canadian business is responsible for obtaining this LMIA document (previously known as a Labour Market Opinion – LMO) before making foreign hiring.

Post Graduate Work Permit

Aside from the numerous opportunities available to International Students in Canada, the most promising benefit of studying in Canada is the Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), issued upon completion of a post-graduate program at a Designated Learning Institute (DLI).

Spousal Work Permit

Suppose a foreign national’s work permit application is approved. In that case, they will be issued an open work permit that allows them to work for multiple employers in any location in Canada. In contrast, their permanent residency application is being processed, or their spouse has valid status in Canada.

Work Permits

Most foreign nationals must have a work permit to work in Canada. An employer-specific work permit allows you to work for a single employer, whereas an open work permit will enable you to work for any eligible employer listed in Canada. You can apply for a work permit inside and outside Canada; the eligibility requirements differ depending on the situation.
