Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCIC) are licensed professionals regulated by the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council. They are authorised to act on behalf of a client to make an application with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. They are also responsible to uphold the standards of conduct outlined in the Code of Ethics to protect the public from unethical or incompetent practice.
Yes. Licensed immigration consultants are required to complete an approved education program and a language test before they can appear for the RCIC Entry-to-Practice Exam. The exam tests the candidates on three cognitive levels: knowledge and comprehension, application of rules and principles, and critical thinking.
An immigration consultant can act as your representative for all immigration applications or appeals, except representation at Federal Court. You must hire a lawyer in the case you want to file an Application for Leave or for Judicial Review.
Hiring representation is a very important decision and it should always feel good instinctively.
