Dependent Child Sponsorship

The family sponsorship program aids in reunifying families by allowing Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are the parents of a child born outside of Canada to apply to sponsor their child or other dependents for Canadian PR.

Dependent Child Sponsorship Requirements:-

As with all family sponsorship streams, eligibility conditions must be met by both the sponsor and the sponsored person in order for the kid to be given permanent residency. The following must be done by parents who desire to sponsor their child:

You must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
You must be at least 18 years old.
You must not be incarcerated, charged with a serious offense, or bankrupt.
Additionally, parents must present documentation proving their child’s parentage, such as a birth or adoption certificate. Before the adoption is legally finished, parents who are in the last stages of the adoption procedure may sponsor their adopted kid. The sponsored person must be either the sponsor’s or the sponsor’s spouse’s biological kid or the sponsor’s or the sponsor’s spouse’s adopted child in addition to fitting the description of a dependent child.

Sponsoring A Dependent Child In Quebec

If the Canadian sponsor resides in Quebec, they must commit financially to support the family member they are sponsoring. The nature of the relationship determines the duration of the project. If the dependent child is under the age of 16, the sponsor must commit to financially supporting them for ten years or until the child reaches the age of eighteen, whichever comes first. If the dependent child is 16 or older, the sponsor must commit to providing financial support for three years or until the child reaches the age of 25, whichever comes first.

Minimum Necessary Income For Dependent Child Sponsorship

Canadian citizens or permanent residents who sponsor dependent children are exempt from meeting the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI), provided the dependent child does not have any children. If the sponsored dependent child has dependent children, the sponsor must meet the MNI for their family unit size. We can assist you if you want to Sponsor your Dependent child to Canada.
